Republicans need to reclaim their history of inclusion. During the Civil War, it was Republicans who fought to end slavery while the Democrat Confederacy fought to preserve this evil institution. Facing opposition from southern slave-holding House Democrats and those within his own party warning him the political battle was too steep, Republican President Abraham Lincoln was determined Congress would pass the 13th Amendment to abolish slavery.

In 1863, Lincoln used his war powers as president during the Civil War to enact the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing slaves, but he knew when the war concluded so would his proclamation, as it was not law passed by Congress. Placing the good of the country and ALL its people above his personal political gain, Lincoln pushed Congress to pass the 13th Amendment in 1865 as the Civil War was coming to an end. Without passage of the 13th Amendment, Lincoln would have still been praised a hero for winning the war but slaves wouldn’t have been freed.

It was also the same Republican Party that won passage of the 14th Amendment granting blacks citizenship as well as the 15th Amendment, ensuring them the right to vote. Republicans also took the lead in fighting for passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act despite hardened bigotry from Democrats in Congress.

Conservative Melting Pot PAC was created to bring the Grand Old Party (GOP) back to its roots as the party promoting equality and economic opportunity for all. The party, which fought for equality among men, should reflect that equality in its candidates, lawmakers and voters.

The only way the Republican Party will thrive and grow in the coming years is if all Americans see their faces reflected in the party’s ranks. With this goal in mind, Conservative Melting Pot PAC will help elect conservative candidates, particularly minorities and women, and take the message of conservatism to every American regardless of what they look like or where they live.

We the people of the Republican Party have begun a new day and we hope you will join us by contributing to Conservative Melting Pot PAC.
